What you get:

One-on-one, personalized voice lessons tailored towards your interests, goals, and needs. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned professional, we work together to develop vocal goals that suit you and we work towards those goals every lesson. You can study musical theatre, opera, pop, folk, rock, jazz; it’s up to you! If you are a songwriter and want to bring in your own music to work on, you are always welcome. Marley prides herself on teaching healthy vocal technique - whether it be belting, opera, or reducing tension in general when singing, she will work with you to help you sing with ease, clarity, confidence, and authenticity. Voice lessons are generally quite expensive, but we offer competitive pricing AND monthly packages to reduce the overall cost. FREE Add-Ons:

As part of voice lessons, you get to opt into a voice lesson and goal setting weekly journal and/or a weekly practice plan tailored to you as an individual. Marley spent years taking lessons and was never taught or guided in how to effectively practice. We help you create a plan that works for you personally and that will help you progress and avoid burnout. The journal is a way to reflect on your lesson and weekly practicing. Marley reads these before each lesson to stay up to date on any challenges or wins in your practicing and/or performing that help inform her teaching during lessons. EXTRA BONUS:

More? Yes. Marley offers all current students one 6-min practice video which they can send for feedback between lessons, for FREE. No additional charge. Why? One of the biggest challenges when learning to sing is the week between lessons when you are practicing on your own. Sometimes you might feel great, sometimes you might feel self-conscious or wonder if you are “doing it right.” Maybe you’re working through a challenging part of a song and worried you might hurt your voice because something doesn’t feel right. Or, maybe you’re working on an audition or recital and need some extra help. The last thing we want is for that uncertainty to discourage you from practicing, cause you to overwork a problem on your own (leading to vocal fatigue and/or burnout), or continue to practice a section of a song the wrong way and halt your progress. Singing should always be fun and as stress free as possible, which is why Marley encourages students to take advantage of this opportunity. Even if you don’t have a question, you can send the video and Marley will provide feedback to encourage you and help guide you towards the right direction for practicing.

Who can take voice lessons?

Anyone! Marley believes everyone has a beautiful voice and can learn to sing well. She teaches all ages and loves working with all students. She is equipped with the knowledge to safely handle adolescent, elderly, and transitioning voices. If you are a complete beginner, don’t know where to start, want to learn to read sheet music, or just want to sing better for fun karaoke nights out with friends, this is the place for you! If you are a high school student preparing for college auditions, Marley has been through that process and is equipped with the knowledge and understanding to help guide you through that process. If you are a professional singer who has previous training, we can work on fine-tuning, playing with artistic vocal choices, text and acting work, learning a different style of music, prepping for auditions or performances, you name it!

Lesson Scheduling: when you book your session, you will be prompted to fill out a form with your availability for lessons. Please give a list of a few possible dates/times available to you to speed up the scheduling process. You will be contacted by Marley with your lesson time once it is scheduled. Please allow 1-2 business days for a response. If you are looking for an urgent Single Lesson time for audition prep or another matter, please put “URGENT” in the subject heading.

Single Lessons

Life can get busy, auditions come in with fast turnarounds, finances can get tight… That’s why we’ve created a video review service. For just $20, you can send in a 6-minute video of music and receive feedback as early as same-day replies. Replies will usually be sent in 1-2 business days, but may take 3 days if volume is high at the moment.

The Vocal Playground Studio Class will be a place where students can practice performing live in front of fellow studio members in a supportive environment. The class format may change week-to-week dependent upon the interests of the students in class. One week, it may solely exist as a performance space where students bring in full songs or cuts of songs to perform for feedback. They will get to choose whether they’d like feedback just from the instructor or from other students as well. Another format for the class would be educational presentations and workshops on specific topics relevant to the current students in class and may involve guest speakers from the industry who specialize in particular topics of interest. Studio class will be 2-3 hours in length and there will be monthly and weekly payment options. One of the best parts of studio class is watching others perform and listening to their feedback. You learn a lot by doing but also by listening and watching someone else perform in a studio setting. Students are not required to sing every week and participants who want to sign up solely to watch are always welcome.

Monthly (4x/month) = $120 – saves $40/month

On the topic of student feedback: if a student chooses to accept feedback from other classmates (completely optional), the following rules apply. Positive feedback is welcome. Constructive criticism may only be given if framed in a way which is helpful to the student receiving feedback. Harmfully negative commentary will not be tolerated and for anyone who chooses to say something to those means will be barred from studio class and potentially from all of Pangolin Studios dependent on the severity of the exchange. We take the wellbeing of our students and teachers very seriously.
